Taste Testing Slumber Party Night

FUN! FUN! FUN!

Friday night slumber party with the girls. To make it fun and I wanted to try out some different cake recipes I made cake and let the girls and their friend Avery decorate their own cakes. They had fun and got a super sugar high to boot. Crash and burn!

And the winner is the Lemon cake with lemon filling and butter cream icing!

They are so cute!

Ella's Birthday

Ella loved her mermaid cake. This was a fun cake to make.

I made homemade fondant for the pearls and my wonderful (non complaining) husband Larrie made them all. He rolls such a good pearl. lol

My starfish and my pearl I made out of fondant. I was so happy with the way they turned out they looked so real. Everything on the cake was edible and it was surely eaten

This is my first mermaid which I think I like better then the one I ended up with  but I just would not leave her alone. She was made from my homemade molding chocolate. She was hard because I am not a sculptor and she would keep melting in my hands but in the end she turned out ok.

The rock I made out of rice crispy treats and  Larrie covered it with fondant, it came out really good.
I made the Ella & #5 out of homemade gum paste.
.

Voila!
 you have cake!
Ella opening her presents. She says I am 5 now!

Valentines Day

Love is in the air!

Only 3 days until Valentine's Day. What a perfect weekend to start my blog.

I have been baking goodies all week trying out different cake recipes for my daughters birthday cake I am baking next week. I have been practicing with fondant, molding chocolate, gum paste & butter cream. Here are a few things that I made this week.

This is my first cake I have ever used fondant on. Not so bad for my first one. Lots of lessons learned.

These little beauties were made from the top I trimmed off my chocolate cake above to level them out, mixed with my butter cream icing then dipped in white & milk chocolate.
I just love cupcakes everything about them.

I have been trying to make a sponge cake but I cannot seem to get it to rise. It tastes great just not fluffy but they worked out perfect for this dessert I made.

I also made chocolate covered strawberries for my little desserts and extras to eat they are so good.
I think I will be making more of these for Valentine's Day.

I melted a little bit of white chocolate added red color to make light pink and drizzled
the pink chocolate over the strawberries.
